The Role

Overview

Develop and manage 3D highway models using OpenRoads for FDOT projects

Tasks

-Interpret FDOT typical sections, design criteria, and plan sets to build accurate digital models. -Develop and maintain detailed 3D roadway models using Bentley OpenRoads Designer in alignment with FDOT CADD standards and Florida-specific digital delivery requirements. -Assist in the setup and maintenance of BIM standards, templates, and libraries tailored to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and local agency specifications. -Support clash detection, quantity takeoffs, and visualization efforts for design reviews, public involvement, and stakeholder presentations. -Participate in project meetings and provide technical input on BIM-related issues and solutions. -Collaborate with roadway engineers, designers, and CAD technicians to integrate design data into BIM workflows for roadway projects. -Coordinate with other disciplines (structures, drainage, utilities) to ensure model compatibility and integration across multi-jurisdictional projects.

What You Bring

-Strong understanding of roadway design elements including alignments, profiles, corridors, and surfaces. -Candidates with relevant technical training, certifications, or equivalent experience are encouraged to apply. Engineering degrees or licenses are welcome but not required. -Familiarity with FDOT Design Manual, CADD Manual, and Digital Delivery Initiative. -Knowledge of roadway modeling for Design-Build or BIM for Construction applications in Florida counties and municipalities. -Experience with digital delivery workflows and model-based design in transportation projects, preferably within FDOT or Florida local government environments. -Excellent organizational and communication skills. -Experience with other BIM tools such as Civil 3D and ProjectWise -Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer and Bentley MicroStation. -Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
