The Role

Overview

Design and manage bridge projects, mentor staff, and coordinate with DOT clients.

Tasks

-Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action. -Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages. -Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers. -Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance. -Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design. -Actively participate and serve in leadership positions in transportation related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, NCSEA, etc. -Participate in projects by completing tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines. -Provide engineering design services for traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build bridge projects. -Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans.

What You Bring

-10+ years of bridge/culvert design experience, required. -Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a Structural emphasis is required; M.S. degree in a relevant discipline is preferred. -DOT bridge design experience and thorough understanding of DOT guidelines, procedures, and plan preparation (ODOT, NCDOT or MaineDOT preferred). -Relationships with DOT, municipalities, preferred. -Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation. -P.E. license required. -Have established working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers, especially in DOT and local governments.
