The Role

Overview

Upgrade and service wind turbine converter systems, including design, testing, and on‑site support.

Tasks

-Designing, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and remotely diagnosing wind turbine converters and associated power equipment. -Communicating progress of projects to the engineering management team. -Utilizing internal software to write PLC/converter code using industry-standard function blocks. -Performing troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolutions, and implement corrective actions. -Marking up and reviewing AutoCAD and EPLAN drawings. -Setting up hardware in a lab environment and demonstrating Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) to both internal and external customers.

What You Bring

-An understanding of power conversion principles for wind turbine converters. -This role combines office work with domestic and international travel (5-10% of work time spent traveling). -Knowledge of integrated control schemes with switchgear, protection, PLCs, HMIs, and converters. -Experience in commissioning wind turbine converter systems. -Power systems experience with relation to transformers and switchgear. -A relevant degree (minimum HNC, HND, BEng, or BSc) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications, or some experience in an industrial electrical engineering environment. -Basic knowledge of PLC programming principles. -Solid experience in heavy industry environments, particularly in wind energy. -An aptitude for learning and development in their role in an ever-evolving branch of technology (growth mindset).
