The Role
Overview
Design low-voltage power distribution systems for gas turbine auxiliary equipment.

Tasks
-Simplify product designs for improved manufacturability and reduce cost w/o compromising product quality and function. -Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources. -Develop and / or review electrical, control and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists generated by SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI). -Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors and field personnel. -Develop power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, hazardous area classifications. -Assist Sales and Marketing and Development Engineering with projects to enhance existing and develop new product lines. -Handles various assignments, including rework, in timely manner to meet schedule deadlines. -Meet schedule requirements for project engineering deliverables. -Interpret and design per code requirements from the authority having jurisdiction over a project’s electrical installation. Will need to be able to investigate, understand, and interpret when necessary, the applicable electrical code for a project (NEC/NFPA 70, CEC, IEC, ISA, AGA, etc.). -Perform calculations, sizing of equipment (i.e.: breakers, overload devices, relays), sizing of cables/conduits/equipment spacing, illumination level calculations, maintaining BOM’s, and other design duties required by complexity of project. -Assist junior engineers and interns and support their development. -Generate Electrical drawing packages used or created by Electrical engineers, designers, and drafters to document logic, point to point wiring, and system interaction. -Develop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, terminations schedules. -Assist in preparing purchase specifications and vendor selection for electrical equipment. -Provide technical support during manufacturing and commissioning of equipment. -Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. -Follows policies, procedures, safety guidelines on their work. -Unsure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identify any potential risk to product quality. -Interpret and integrate design requirements from parent company.

What You Bring
-Understand project schedules, be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision from the electrical project lead. -Travel – up to 10%. -SmartPlant 3D: Minimum 2 years, or significant expertise in creation of electrical tray/conduit specifications, designing of trays/conduits, creation of tray/conduit drawings, and extraction of bills of materials from tool. All related to the electrical module of S3D. Experience with Revit 3d or another comparable 3D electrical design tool will be considered as well. -AutoCAD: Experience with tool is a plus. -Preferred to have experience in working with Generators (150 MVA ratings and above) for Gas or Steam Turbines with its Auxiliaries power plant experience is a plus. -SmartPlant Electrical: Expertise of the software is a plus. Significant expertise in registered report creation/modification, symbol creation, filters creation, rules creation, reference data creation, batch mode operations, data maintenance, and overall effective utilization of tool. -SmartPlant Instrumentation: Past experience of the software is a plus. -Use of SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL); SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) and SmartPlant 3D (S3D) to design electrical power and control systems. Experience with similar database driven software will also be considered. -Communicate effectively with all levels of employees. -SmartSketch: Past experience with the tool is a plus. -Possess working knowledge of electrical design system for industrial facilities.
