Tasks

The Network Administrator works within the Information Services Infrastructure team, providing network support and administration for the District’s mission-critical LAN, WAN, firewall, IP-telephony, wireless, cloud, SCADA/ICS, IoT, and public safety environments. -Coordinate with IS staff and business units to ensure reliability, availability, and scalability of IT systems. -Manage contractors and vendors as needed. -Develop documentation, procedures, and standards for network operations. -Position requires the employee to maintain residence within 1 hour of the office location to facilitate a timely response to Network outages, etc. -Administrate the District's enterprise network, with an emphasis on routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, IP telephony, and security appliances. -Coordinate with SCADA/OT staff, Engineering, Public Safety, and Emergency Management personnel on scheduled and unscheduled maintenance or outages. -Monitor and review network and security logs; ensure compliance with District security and regulatory standards. -Participate in process improvements, automation, and innovation initiatives. -Assist with troubleshooting and repair of microwave links, ensuring resilience across remote water and flood infrastructure. -Manage network monitoring platforms and 3rd-party systems for UPS units, PDUs, and environmental controls. -Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve network/user issues; escalate complex problems as appropriate.

-Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff -Network fundamentals (switching, routing, dot1x, firewalling) -Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills -Valid Texas driver’s license -Must pass a Texas DPS/FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check and maintain CJIS eligibility -Cisco CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire -Cisco IP Telephony or other UC platforms (Teams/WebEx/Zoom) -Higher-level certifications such as CCNP, Azure, or security certifications desired. -Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills -Ability to create and follow policies, procedures, and standards -Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to meet deadlines -Self-motivated, with ability to learn new technologies quickly -Working knowledge of: -Experience with Azure infrastructure services or AWS desired -Strong understanding of routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), application layer (DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP, SIP, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, TLS/SSL), transport layer (UDP/TCP), and internet/link layer (ICMP, IPsec, ARP) -Demonstrated accountability and solution-oriented work approach -Availability to respond to 24/7 operations for critical issues. -Structured cabling (Cat 5/6, fiber optics, etc) -Travel between TRWD facilities is required. -Maintain familiarity with strategic District levels of service -Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities -Overlay technologies (SDWAN, VXLAN, LISP) -Effective collaborator and strong team player -Associates degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience in enterprise network administration -Strong documentation and compliance skills -Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear. Must not be afraid of heights. Must be able to drive necessary distances when required. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. -Knowledge of data security administration, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISA-62443) -Three plus (3+) years of enterprise networking experience (LAN/WAN, firewalls, wireless, VPN, microwave)

Salary: $71,884.80 - $107,827.20 annually
