Assistant Greenkeeper

Maintain and prepare golf course surfaces, equipment, and turf health daily.

Tasks

-Understand the companies policies on health and safety and to ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to the safety of the customers, visitors, contractors and other employees; work within the health and safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment and SOP guidelines at all times -Participates in the propagation of grass and other plants -Supervise small projects and seasonal greenkeepers -Cutting all playing surfaces, change holes, setting up golf course for play, preparing bunkers, any spraying that is required; ensuring that the course is presented in the best possible condition to exceed the expectations of guests and visitors at all times -Ensure and supervise the operation and safe handling of all machinery and equipment used by the greenkeeping staff -Responsible for the care of machinery and the reporting of loss or damage to Equipment Manager -Ensure that care is taken at all times to prevent any long term damage to the turf/golf course

-You possess good interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively -You maintain a positive attitude in all work-related circumstances -You have knowledge of the uses and operating methods of the equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance -You have knowledge of the methods used in the care and maintenance of golf courses. -Competency in the efficient and effective operation and safe handling of all chemicals used by greenkeeping staff -You have knowledge of turf diseases and the methods and chemicals used to control them -Minimum of 1 year experience in an assistant greenkeeping position -Must hold full UK driving license -You have knowledge of the care and maintenance of grass greens -SVQ/NVQ level 2 in sports turf maintenance or equivalent -First Aid Certification favourable -You have knowledge of recreational operations and maintenance work -PA1 & PA6 Certification favourable
