  • Supervision of employees including performance plan development, performance reviews, resource management, expense and time accounting, coaching and leadership development.
  • View and approve timesheets and expenses of employees.
  • Supervise the transportation of company equipment ensuring timely pick-up and delivery.
  • Coordinate the inspection, repair and calibration of tools for proper operation and safety function ensuring advancements in tools and technology are realized by the shop.
  • Secure rental item as necessary when NREC Equipment/Tools are not available.
  • Train and mentor Shop Assistant employees on inventory control plus the testing, calibration, repair, and inspection of tools.
  • Assist in coordinating PPE changeout.
  • Ensure the shop is able to proactively maintain, monitor and ensure tool and material inventory utilizing ToolWatch Software while anticipating future needs.
  • Keep up to data on the knowledge and compliance of DOT regulations and compliance creating recommendations and guidance as DOT changes occur.
  • Dispatch Drivers and Runner.
  • Partner on the purchase and receipt of tools and materials utilizing ToolWatch Software tracking and identifying trends and mitigating risk.

New River Electrical is looking for a qualified Shop Foreman skilled in leadership plus fleet, tools and inventory. As the Shop Foreman, you will support the Fleet & Facilities function as the recognized leader of the transportation (Truck Driver) team and Shop Assistants. Working in a garage environment, you will support the teams through hands on oversight, supporting the provision of safe and reliable transportation and tools, proactively identifying future need and planning ahead. This position ensures the purchasing, inventory, testing, calibrations/inspection/certification and repairs on tools is occurring to meet the needs of the internal customers while guiding and mentoring Truck Drivers and Shop Assistants. Working with the Shop Assistants, this role also maintains awareness of changing DOT compliance and regulations providing recommendations and guidance as changes to DOT occurs including Truck Drivers. This role reports to the Construction Support & Facilities Manager.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is required to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, and crawl under equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Understanding of the inventory function including how to anticipate the ordering of tools and equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of automotive diagnostics and tooling including inspection, repair and calibration up to and including the ability to train others.
  • Ability to work with various tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Must have demonstrated competency in leading, developing and motivating others.
  • Must be able to perform employee evaluations, solve employee discrepancy and issue, provide coach and counsel.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop employees including the care and use of new tools and technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of DOT Compliance related to trucking and hours of service.
  • H.S or Technical School degree, plus at least three (3) years of experience in the automotive repair field with preference toward garage and/or trade school experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced understanding of automotive care of tools keeping up to date with advancements and trends.
  • Demonstrated competency in developing and maintaining internal team relationships.
  • Strong ability to explain complex components of transportation, automotive repair and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Travel for this position is not expected working in a shop environment, but some travel may occur.
  • Ability to track and monitor DOT regulations and compliance including trucking.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
