Manage health, safety, and environmental compliance for heavy civil projects.

Tasks

-Work with project management teams and field workers to implement and devise solutions to safety-related issues on project sites. -Assist management with the sourcing and hiring process for the Safety department. -Ensure subcontractors and employees comply with safety standards. -Ensure you and your family receive the services needed to support your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. -Inspect active project sites to evaluate ongoing work conditions to guarantee compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards. -Represent Aecon at meetings with stakeholders and other organizations on issues regarding workplace health and safety matters. -Review project plans and project sites before work commences, identifying safety-related risks. -Liaise with external parties such as government inspectors, sub-contractors, and general public. -Provide site specific safety training and orientation to workers, owners and clients. -Work with senior management to create plans for emergency procedures. -Develop and train supervisors and staff on the Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.

What You Bring

-Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). -Working knowledge of SIF and HOP principals. -Understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board System (WSIB) and return to work program. -Experience in working on heavy civil infrastructure projects, specifically Light Rail (LRT) and railways. -Knowledge of Construction projects with a solid understanding of the Occupation Health and Safety Act (“OHSA”). -Excellent meeting and training facilitation. -Background in training and/or education and or experience delivering EHS Training programs to individuals and groups. -Valid driver’s license with good driving record and the ability to drive to job sites. -Bachelor’s degree, Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and, Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor or ISO 45001 lead auditor. -Exceptional organizational and time management skills. -National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required. -Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment. -Understanding of the Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration System. -8-10 years’ experience coordinating and managing health and safety for heavy civil infrastructure projects. -Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
