Tasks

The Personal Accounting Manager position works directly with the owner of the Company on a daily basis and the VP, Corporate Controller as needed, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial records and transactions related to the owner’s personal business. Primary duties of this position include monitoring and recording daily banking activity, recording monthly journal entries, timely payment of various personal, residential and/or philanthropic expenditures, and maintaining monthly balance sheet reconciliations. This is a key position within the Corporate Accounting department managing all aspects of the owner’s personal finances including budgets, forecasts, and the preparation of financial statements. The financial transactions of the owner include various philanthropic endeavors and the owner’s cash flow management is an integral part of business operations. The Personal Accounting Manager has a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP) and will be expected to maintain a high level of integrity, confidentiality and technical competency. -Update monthly the rolling personal cash flow forecast schedule. -Prepare weekly schedule of cash and investment balances and manage balances to maximize return on investment. -Research, analyze and respond to accounting, financial and personal issues as they occur. -Prepare and record journal vouchers as needed to record personal financial transactions. -Review various monthly statements and report on any variances. -Maintain the personal multi-year cash flow forecast for the owner. -Monitor and record all daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, general ledger and daily bank activity. -Maintain a current understanding of the critical issues on all personal entities, residences and other activities of the Owner. -Prepare year-end accounting workpapers and owner’s personal financial statements. -Review/code cash receipts and accounts payable. -Help maintain a positive and productive work environment. -Ensure that monthly reporting packages are timely and complete. -Provide outstanding customer service to owner and cross-functional department personnel. -Review, analyze and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts. -Respond to questions from other Schnitzer Properties departments, including the Tax Department in regard to preparing the Owner’s personal tax returns.

What You Bring

-Experience working for high-net-worth individuals is preferred. -Minimum of ten years of related experience in a similar role is required (real estate accounting preferred). -Outstanding mathematical and financial analysis skills; excellent personal computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Word, and Outlook; training and experience using Yardi software a plus. -Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting, finance or business required. -Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and equipment; extreme professionalism; ability to prioritize tasks and work independently; capable of handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines; strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills. -Ability to interpret financial data, make projections, draw conclusions, and make effective written and verbal report presentations. -Possess excellent communication skills and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, associates, owners; experience; positive attitude and disposition; extremely quality conscious; highly self-motivated; strong work ethic and pride in work; takes initiative and responds to changing priorities and demands. -Experience creating and documenting work processes and procedures.
