Interconnections Planning Engineer - Transmission Planning

Conduct interconnection studies and power analyses for clean energy projects.

Tasks

-Identify new generation/transmission project impacts on bulk electric system; Develop recommended modifications to NYISO. -The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. -Participate in internal engineering support activities; interface with NYISO and merchant developers. -Contribute to analyses identifying local and system upgrades to maintain reliable electric system operations. -Perform interconnection studies on offshore wind, energy storage, public policy transmission and other new clean energy technology projects. -Develops and delivers effective presentations -Conduct substation power-flow and short circuit analyses.

What You Bring

-Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering and 3 years of engineering work experience in the planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system. -Competent in using PSS/E, TARA, Aspen or equivalent power system simulation programs. Required -Demonstrated analytical skills -Effective interpersonal skills -Driver's License Required -Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 3 years of engineering work experience in the planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system. -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Knowledge of the design and /or operation of the electric power system. Required -Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
