Overview

Design, assess, and manage structural projects for Indigenous communities in Victoria.

Tasks

-Mentor and train junior staff -Lead With Purpose - empower, develop and support others to reach their full potential -Supportive Teamwork - promote an inclusive and respectful work environment and culture -Site investigation and evaluation of existing building structures and infrastructure, including coordination of sub-consultant services as required -Preparation of reports and studies -Preparation of project drawings and specifications, including coordination of sub-consultants as required -Manage projects and clients from conceptual design to final completion -Market and solicit work from new and existing clients -Coordination of other engineering and architectural disciplines -Formulate development and rehabilitation programs and recommend project concepts to the client, community, and funding agencies -Design and analyze existing building components, including consideration of upgrades and improvements to meet client and community needs -Supervision of 2 or 3 junior engineers / engineering interns / technologists

What You Bring

-Civil Engineering Degree from an accredited university – Preference may be given for those candidates with completed courses in Building Science. -Previous knowledge and application of design thinking and systems thinking frameworks is considered an asset -Proven leadership skills -Creative Mindset - provide new and diverse ideas -Strong attention to detail and produce error free, high-quality work -Team player with ability to work independently with minimum direction -Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders -Able to interact professionally with all levels of business personnel and build strong working relationships -Demonstrated effective communication skills -Exceptional organizational, time-management, and project management skills -Registered as a P.Eng with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC), or eligible for registration. -5 - 10 years' of consulting engineering experience -Previous knowledge of Canada’s history with Indigenous peoples, the TRC Calls to Action, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) is considered an asset -Ability to conceptualize design with an understanding of constructability
