Diesel Mechanic

Overview

Maintain and repair heavy diesel and gasoline equipment for construction operations.

Tasks

-Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. -Maintain a safe and clean work area. -They may be required to work long and unpredictable hours. -Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures. Provide repair and maintenance to diesel and gasoline engines. Adjust and repair ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and steering systems. Maintain and repair chassis, frames, and bodies. Work with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges, and meters. Lubricate equipment. Maintain and repair tires, batteries, brakes, and valves. Perform shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventory control, making estimates of material, labor, and equipment requirements.

What You Bring

-Must be able to move freely, including the ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist. -Must have good organizational skills, meet strict deadlines, and document issues and procedures. -Must have a valid driver's license, Class A or B commercial driver’s license preferred -Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests. -Must be able to work unsupervised. -Have basic computer proficiency and good verbal and written communication skills. -Must be able to lift 100 pounds unassisted. -Must be able to stand for long periods on varied surfaces. -High School diploma or equivalent preferred -Can work in a team atmosphere and learn new tasks -Requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. -3 years experience directly related to the duties or mechanics school graduate (Heavy equipment diesel engines and transmissions)
