Field Technician

Overview

Perform QA/QC field inspections and testing for geotechnical and construction projects.

Tasks

-Perform field testing of concrete, soil/aggregate/bituminous paving materials. -Monitoring subsurface investigations including exploratory borings, geoprobing, and environmental sampling. -Perform density testing, and observation of soil placement. -Perform construction quality assurance / construction quality control field inspections. -Effectively communicate with key stake holders including project managers, project engineers, contractors and others depending on the project and job tasks. -Monitor foundation/geotechnical and related construction activities. -Conduct material laboratory quality control testing. -Prepare daily field reports and test summaries documenting the work being performed in a timely fashion.

What You Bring

-Ability to operate hand and power tools. -Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely without restrictions on a daily basis. -A self-starter possessing strong verbal and written communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and organizational skills. -Ability to frequently carry 30-60 lbs. up to 30’; occasionally carry 60-100 lbs. up to 30’. -Associate’s degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field. -Ability to travel to and from job sites, including potentially overnight stay. -Valid Drivers License in good standing. -Ability to walk and stand continuously throughout the day, often on uneven surfaces with frequent bending and stooping – 8-10 hours per day. -Ability to frequently lift 30-60 lbs.; occasionally lift 60-100 lbs. -Team oriented with the ability to perform independent hands-on fieldwork. -High School Diploma or equivalent.
