The Role
Overview
Provide engaging elevator rides and guest assistance at the Space Needle.

Tasks
-Manage, communicate to and reassure guests in times of emergency. -Promote a positive; professional attitude and appearance to all Space Needle team members and guests while consistently displaying an upbeat attitude and engaging personality. -Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing workstations as directed. -Reassure guests in times of emergency. -Coordinate the lines of people waiting for the elevator on all levels. This includes queuing guests for photos and monitoring queue locations, as well as expediting to alternate elevators during peak guest times. -Scan admission tickets, process City Pass tickets and other required ticket types for accurate guest counts. -Know lost and found procedures. -Greet and converse with guests in a friendly, outgoing manner. -Ensure that guests present appropriate and valid tickets that reflect their purchase or membership when scanning guest tickets. -Make sure that signs and display messaging are correctly directing guests at all levels. -Maintain a clean elevator, and a tidy podium at Launch Pad. -Continuously learn about and stay up to date on other attractions, hotels, restaurants or any additional areas that may be requested by a guest. -Provide a pleasant and informative elevator trip by presenting entertaining facts and trivia about the Space Needle, Seattle and other visible sites. -Provide information about all areas of the Space Needle including: O Deck, Space Base, Skyline, and Valet services. -Operate the elevator according to the rules and regulations set by the Space Needle and Otis Elevator Company. -Assist in training new team members. -Maintain working knowledge of all Space Needle policies and procedures. -Make sure that stanchions are set appropriately at all levels. -Properly balance the number of guests allowed on the elevator per level. -Manage elevator movement and communication through multiple monitors and lines of communication.

What You Bring
-Be knowledgeable about Skyline functions and area events in order to assist guests with efficient professionalism. -High School Diploma or equivalent. -Deal with media appropriately and professionally. -Ability to talk continuously for an entire shift. -Know Space Needle emergency and fire/life/safety procedures. -Ability to work in a confined space. -Ability to stand up to 8 hours. -Ability to work independently and as a team member. -Comfortable working with a diverse population. -Effective problem solving techniques. -Ability to see near, far and adjust focus. -Significant capability to implement creative problem solving in the presence of multiple guests within a reasonable timeframe. -Ability to react quickly and correctly in a fast paced environment. -Strong speaking and presentation skills. -Ability to effectively communicate using the English language. -Incredible guest service skills. -Must be available to work at least three shifts per week. -Consistently complete elevator trips in three and a half minutes or less. -Strong initiative and decision-making ability. -Knowledge of Seattle area preferred.
