Role
Description
Provide expert technical oversight for the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of both low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) electrical systems.
Manage and oversee the appointment and authorisation of competent electrical personnel, ensuring consistent assessment, training, and maintenance of authorisation records.
Ensure full compliance with UK electrical regulations (e.g. BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and HSE guidance) as well as Glanua’s internal electrical safety policies and procedures.
Lead or contribute to the investigation of electrical incidents or near misses, ensuring effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
Liaise with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and regulatory bodies to demonstrate compliance and continuous improvement in electrical safety performance.
Support the safe and timely delivery of electrical aspects of projects, working closely with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure statutory and client requirements are met.
Monitor changes in electrical legislation, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to keep Glanua’s electrical safety practices current and effective.
Review and approve electrical Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), including but not limited to: Permits to Work, isolation procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
Conduct regular audits and inspections of electrical works and authorised personnel to ensure ongoing compliance with authorisation procedures and company standards.
Maintain and update all electrical safety documentation, including policies, authorisation records, training logs, and operational procedures.
Promote a strong culture of electrical safety across all Glanua UK sites by delivering toolbox talks, mentoring staff, and participating in safety forums and reviews.
