The Role

Overview

Manage daily ops, maintenance, budgets, safety, and compliance of a multi‑cavern gas storage facility.

Tasks

-Provides up-to-date information to management on current operating characteristics and capabilities. Interfaces with Company gas control to deliver gas volumes between the storage facility and interconnecting facilities and to plan, organize and manage multiple concurrent and complex projects such as outage planning, scheduling and coordination of vendor activities. -Recruits, develops and provides training to create and maintain a high quality superintendents and operating staff in order to operate the facility in a manner consistent with Company policies and objectives. -Maintains an active involvement with engineering and construction to ensure operational aspects are considered and integrated into the design and construction of various projects at the facility to ensure a successful transition of the project to full operation. -Leads the Operations of the Natural Gas Storage Facility. Takes action for the optimization and utilization of storage facility. Establishes operations management systems and practices to meet all permit conditions, regulatory standards, and design criteria. -Provides recommendations regarding project storage and delivery capabilities to enhance profitability. -Reviews and manages all contracts pertaining to or affecting the facility business. -Promotes environmental and safety excellence. Ensures compliance with all permits, Federal, State, and local regulations; achieves regulatory compliance objectives, which involves implementing procedures, and programs in the areas of Safety, Environmental, Operator Qualifications, Public Awareness, Cavern Integrity, Pipeline Integrity, and Preventative Maintenance programs. Manages and supports local Company affairs in the work region. -Develops, monitors and controls expenditures within Operation and Maintenance, and Capital budgets. Reviews and analyzes variances, and prepares an action plan for senior management. Directs the development and implementation of performance improvement and cost control programs. -Work in adverse weather and/or extreme temperature conditions.

What You Bring

-Bachelor's Degree In Engineering or a related field or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. -Minimum of 10 years energy experience with significant operations experience in reservoir and/or salt cavern solution mining operations, gas pipelines and storage; or an equivalent combination of education and experience including managing of industrial facilities. -Must possess a valid driver’s license. -Ability to work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment. -Position requires strong presentation and public speaking skills, as well as strong negotiation skills, interpersonal communication skills, and team management and team building skills. -Knowledge of financial and economic principles relating to natural gas storage facility operation and maintenance -Ability to travel outside the job location area. -Knowledge of and experience with the operation and maintenance of natural gas storage facilities, pipeline, corrosion, and measurement systems. -The position also requires effective computer skills including MS Office applications and a strong technical and engineering background related to gas compression and process facilities. -Ability to make effective decisions impacting plant systems and personnel.
