Tasks

-Ensure safe working conditions for crew -Supervise and train asphalt paving crew -Review problems on projects with project superintendent -Ensure paving completed per contract specifications -Clean, measure and layout -Ensure quality of work at all times -Enforce all rules listed in the Ajax Employee Safe Practices Handbook -Schedule repairs and maintenance -Ensure all Ajax quality standards are met. -Plan day’s operation, order asphalt/trucks -Ensure adherence to all federal, state, local and Ajax safety and -Complete crew’s timesheets -Keep records on tonnage. -Assist in equipment relocation to job sites -Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence. -Keep up with rollers for density

What You Bring

-Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods and techniques used in road construction. -Ability to work days, nights and weekends as required. -Understanding of DOT and site projects. -Capable of making prompt and responsible decisions -Good communication skills -Reporting to work on time, after lunch, and not leaving early unless authorized. -Accurate and well organized -Demonstrate an ability to organize, control, and manage all areas of the paving field operation. -Experience with Superpave preferred. -Ability to calculate figures and mathematical concepts. -Understand work orders and recognize discrepancies. -Ability to work well with subordinates, peers and supervisors -Ability to conduct effective paving inspections for compliance. -ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY -Knowledge of possible defects and faults in work and of stages where such faults and defects are most readily ascertained. -Ability to understand and interpret terms and specifications of contracts.
