Design and develop high‑reliability PCBs for defence projects, ensuring manufacturability and performance.

Tasks
-Implements strategies for management of thermal issues -Ensure our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible -Supporting any existing employee who acquires a disability or long term health condition, enabling them to stay in work at least one activity that will make a difference for disabled people -Works with mechanical designers to ensure electronics and mechanical parts mesh perfectly and are manufacturable (Poka-yoke) -Generates routing whilst minimising noise/EMI -Apply Design Rule Checking for DFx (test, assembly, manufacture) -Perform layout for high density interconnect (e.g. blind & buried VIAs) -Communicating and promoting vacancies -Define board stack-ups including selection of materials and impedance definitions -Anticipating and providing reasonable adjustments as required -Performs component placement whilst trading off the myriad of requirements that may conflict -Offering an interview to disabled people who meet the minimum criteria for the job -Creates new components as needed adding to the client library -Manufacturing data pack creation and manipulation:- -The PCB Design Engineer will perform, but is not limited to the following type of activities centred on generation of PCB designs into all phases of the development programme of cutting-edge defence products:Creates new components as needed adding to the client libraryPerforms component placement whilst trading off the myriad of requirements that may conflictGenerates routing whilst minimising noise/EMIImplements strategies for management of thermal issuesAdheres to the specific client design rules and understands the capabilities of specified PCB manufacturer to ensure a high yieldWorks with mechanical designers to ensure electronics and mechanical parts mesh perfectly and are manufacturable (Poka-yoke)

What You Bring
We are looking for an energetic and driven engineer with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with (in order of priority) aerospace, military, marine or rail experience. -UK sole National -Experience of delivery high reliability electronics for hostile environments in industries such as aerospace, military, marine or rail -Gerbers, drill files, x-y placement, assembly & detail drawings, ODB++, etc -Power Integrity analysis -Ability to use Cadence Allegro (Main PCB layout tool) -Signal Integrity Analysis -Other CAD tools an advantage (Altium, Visula) -Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering -Understand electrical constraints and enter in CAD constraint manager tool -Ability and willingness to travel to and work on one of the three client sites 3 days per week -SC Cleared -Knowledge of high voltage requirements and associated constraints -A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieu -Adheres to the specific client design rules and understands the capabilities of specified PCB manufacturer to ensure a high yield -At least two or more of the following: Digital, HDI, RF & Analogue, mixed signal, flexi-rigid -Experience in PCB design delivering complex designs -Familiarity with the latest component packages such is high ball count BGA -Working knowledge of different types of PCB design and technology: -Working knowledge of IPC design standards (Eg IPC-222x series) -Understanding of high speed layout practices (e.g. signal return paths)
