Manage traffic engineering projects, analyses, designs, and team support in Alabama.

Tasks

-Assist in preparing conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timings and engineering reports -Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles -Projects may include traffic operations analysis, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing development, corridor planning studies, transportation safety studies, roadway master planning, long range transportation planning, and transportation modeling (micro and macro) -Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports -Work on temporary traffic control plan/traffic management plan (TMP) and signing, pavement marking plans -Attend project meetings with clients -Assist with and prepare roadway design plans -Work on traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications to facilitate multimodal accommodations -Learn project budgets to meet financial metrics -Assist East Gulf Manager in development of junior engineering staff

What You Bring

-5+ years of experience – Must be in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning with a history of progressive growth in project responsibilities -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) -Must be dependable with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide high quality work -Competency with Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Microstation -B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited engineering program -Potential to learn and participate in business development activities -PTOE, PTP, and/or RSP certifications are a plus -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -Familiarity with OpenRoads Designer is desired but not required -Competency with traffic engineering and transportation planning practices and procedures -Valid driver’s license -Familiarity with CUBE Voyager and TransCAD is a plus -Competency with MS Office products -Alabama PE License required
