Urban Planner I

Overview

Plan and deliver urban/spatial projects, create GIS designs, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

Tasks

-Draft technical reports , presentations and contractual documents, of acceptable technical and presentation quality with minimum guidance. -Work to a program for the project and proactively advise Senior team members of any issue which affects the efficient completion of the project. -Set out / agree design standards and parameters with senior team members. -Carry out and review research, data collection and spatial analysis to support development strategies. -Use GIS , Analytical, and AI based tools to support assessments, and visual storytelling. -Take ownership and deliver, Urban Planning projects and work packages under the supervision of Senior Urban Planners /Practice Leads. -Develop Spatial Planning and regional planning analysis and concepts using the ArcGIS , 3D and digital mediums. -Being responsible for production of drawings, graphics, models and reports through Baseline Assessment to Implementation stages -Responsible for completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost. -Ensure the team is aware of the design standards, codes and compliances of countries within the Middle East region and the same are compiled to, in the Design.

What You Bring

-Use business related software like ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Adobe Suite (Indesign, Illustrator,Photoshop), etc., independently with ability to work with team members -Have a logical and organized approach to project delivery and able to follow instructions and guidance by senior team members. -Working knowledge and keenness to learn in digital innovation, Ai software and further prototyping competencies will be considered an added advantage. -A master’s degree in urban planning / Urbanism/ Urban Design from universities of National and International repute is a must. -Candidates should demonstrate competency in above mentioned softwares, good graphical skill, clear communications skills to gain understanding of the required tasks, quick and a methodical decision-making approach for the design & related tasks. -Must be conversant of the evolving standards of the profession primarily with respective to collaborative and multi-disciplinary design. -Must be proficient in QGIS , ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, AutoCAD, MS Office, Advanced Excel, Sketch up and Google Pro. Experience with AI Based or data visualisation tools. -Able to discuss career goals and aspirations. -2-4 years of Professional Working experience in Spatial Planning , Regional Planning /Master planning Projects, in a reputed firm. Middle East experience will be an added advantage -Candidates should be able to assign work to junior Graduate (urban designers, Urban planners ), GIS Analysts , BIM/CAD technologists and administrative staff. -Successful in identifying and following through on leads/suggestions associated with additional work prospects on the projects they are involved with. -International experience of the UK, the ME or the APAC regions will be considered an added advantage. -Willingness to share information and knowledge with team members. -Must have good experience delivering Spatial Planning, Regional Planning, Urban Planning projects. -Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. -The individual will be required to travel at times to the different AtkinsRéalis office and sites globally and interface with the team based there. -Willing to undertake interdisciplinary technical co-ordination. -Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture will be considered, if they can showcase relevant experience in Spatial Planning/ Regional Planning/ Urban Design Project Stages, including Analysis, Design, Documentation and site implementation. -Ability to work and crossover into all three interrelated disciplines of Planning & Urban Design. -Showing commitments to raising design standards, improving your skills, keeping up with the latest technical and digital developments and with the field of urbanism generally. -Able to identify and communicate concerns of the project/team to immediate Line Manager. -Capable of working on own initiative or as part of a larger multidisciplinary team. -Working knowledge of standard regulations and best practice principles, with strong problem-solving skills.
