  • Prepare inspection and contractor performance reports as needed for project records.
  • Perform inspections for transportation construction projects to ensure they are completed in accordance with plans, specifications and in compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Document project assignments accurately.
  • Perform work under moderate supervision. Receives direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution. Work is frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles.
  • Maintain project documents and files.
  • Liaise with project managers concerning pertinent findings of inspections.

  • Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site strongly preferred.
  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.

  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • DOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification a plus.

  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • NICET certification a plus.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of DOT experience as a Technical Assistant 2 (TA-2) or higher; or two (2) years minimum of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience; or four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
