Lead building science projects, manage teams, and drive business development in Hamilton.

Tasks

-Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff. -Project management tasks including project set-up and team assignment, project schedule and budget management, project delivery, invoicing and collections. -Conduct construction contract administration services for the rehabilitation of building envelope assemblies in existing buildings. -Assessment of building envelope assemblies in existing buildings, report preparation and review of reports from technical staff members. -Building envelope design review of the architectural drawings and specifications for new construction projects. -Construction review services that include review of submittals, shop drawings, substitution requests, request for information, mock-up reviews, plant visits and witness testing. -Business development tasks including strategic growth initiatives, marketing of services and liaison with clients, building strong client relationships, and generating new business. -Attendance of meetings with the architects, contractors, trades, clients and stakeholders. -Perform building condition assessments, performance audit, asset and property review/assessment, reserve fund studies, design, and coordinating various building repair(s). -Staff management tasks including hiring of new staff, team building, professional development, and performance evaluations. -Prepare specifications and drawings from schematic design to construction documents for rehabilitation of existing projects.

What You Bring

-In-depth knowledge of standards and guidelines related to building envelope systems and assemblies. -Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers. -10-15 years of technical experience in building science with proven ability to manage projects and help facilitate business development. -Experience in building envelope condition assessments, preparation of rehabilitation specifications and drawings, tendering process and contract administration and construction review services during construction. -P. Eng. designation in an asset. -Knowledge of the NECB and energy standards. -University degree in a related field of study such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science. -Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required for site visits. -An excellent team builder with the ability to motivate people. -Staff management experience . -Ability to work effectively in a high demand and fast-paced environment. -Experience in new construction projects providing sub-consultant design review services for building envelope assemblies. -In depth knowledge of various building envelope systems and assemblies. -Experience in residential, commercial and institutional sectors is required. -Leadership skills are a requirement.
