The Role

Overview

Install, commission, and verify fire alarm systems; supervise electricians and conduct testing.

Tasks

-Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications. -Encouraging and collaborative team environment. -Assist in developing employee training programs for employees and customers. -Complete verification reports for submittal to customers and carry out system acceptance tests with AHJ’s and other interested parties. -Program small systems (upon training) -Complete As Built drawings on the completion of the job. -Conduct small programming modifications to an existing system with supervision. -Perform assisted installation, commissioning, and verification activities on Fire Alarm related equipment, including connection of devices and circuits. -Supervise and coordinate work with electricians working on Fire Alarm systems. -Identify general deficiencies and code issues in the field during verification. -Maintain up to date knowledge of various product lines.

What You Bring

-Demonstrated ability to program basic operations on micro-processor-based systems without supervision. -Possess a valid driver’s license. -Completion of a Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification -Basic troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electronic test equipment. -Travel throughout the District business area when required. -Completion of a college diploma in Fire Protection, Electrical/Electronic, or equivalent experience, or actively pursuing such qualification. -Ability to express clear technical solutions in a clear and concise manner. -Proficient in the use of computers, Microsoft excel, word, and Windows operating systems. -Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding. -Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 40lbs. -Strong communication skills and customer service focus.
