Laborer/Operator

Overview

Operate equipment, perform general labor, and maintain safety in a steel plant.

Tasks

-You are responsible for ensuring all tools that you use get put away -Follow lockout procedures -Obtain, use and maintain PPE -Make sure work area is safe and free of debris -Operate under direction of plant supervision -Assist with non-mechanical duties such as screen installation -Ensure that all guards are in place in the immediate work area -Immediately report any unsafe conditions, practices or accident, injury, near miss disputes or concerns and/or other circumstances -You are responsible for reporting any dust emissions as well as all fluid spills or leaks -Assist plant personnel when needed (i.e. short staffed on production) -Obtain, use and maintain assigned Tool Kit -Know, Understand and follow Plant Lockout procedures

What You Bring

-Should have a high school diploma or equivalent -To obtain directives from Shift Supervisor Safely and proficiently operate various types of equipment involving shifting gears. Ability to work of equipment as well doing general labor. Experience with running loaders, dozers, trucks, backhoe -Experience handling mini equipment like a telehandler, backhoe -Previous experience of working on a steel mill is an asset -Should have a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Labourer
