Tasks
-Write complete, detailed reports promptly at end of day/project using a computer and the Company’s custom software. -Foster a Customer-First Mindset -Assist Team lead in the supervision of up to 4 team members, providing technical guidance and training on testing of Electrical apparatus. -Responsible for support equipment and maintaining shop supplies. -Perform support for field operations and simple electrical equipment testing, troubleshooting, inspections. -Complete projects consistently meeting customer’s deadline and on budget. -Perform tests and inspections on the following equipment: low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switchboards, ground systems, motor control centers, medium voltage cables, ground fault systems, and two-winding transformers. -Customer Focus – Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customer; Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; Acts with customers in mind; Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.

What You Bring
-Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME and two years experience. OR Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent and five years minimum same or similar work experience. OR High school education or equivalent and six years minimum same or similar work experience. -Frequent bending / twisting -Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.) -Does NOT require relocation to a Vertiv headquarter or regional office at this time. -Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer controlled test equipment. -Strong background and experience in most types of switchgear testing through the 230 kV class. -Extreme cold (below 32*) -Willing to travel anywhere in North America >90% of the time. Schedule is dependent upon project work and is flexible to the degree it can be. This is worked out on a case by case basis with your assigned project manager. PTO scheduled in advance can and will be accommodated. -Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Must be available for out- of-town work of up to several months. -Working around moving machinery (fork-lifts, tractors) -Passed the NETA II (International Electrical Testing Association) exam or NICET equivalent preferred. -Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients and peers. -Work outdoors (no effective protection from weather) -Frequent kneeling / crawling / stooping -Simple relay calibration, use of recording instrumentation. -Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation. -Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA. -Listening– Practices attentive and active listening; has the patience to hear people out; can accurately restate the opinions of others even when he/she disagrees. -Standing Alone – Will stand up and be counted; doesn't shirk from personal responsibility; can be counted on when times are tough; looks forward to taking charge of a problem or issue; is comfortable working alone on a tough assignment. -Good judgment, dependable, supervises projects with technical expertise and good business management skills. -Requires troubleshooting capabilities. -Noise Level (Medium / High need to shout to be heard) -Heavy Lifting (over 50 Ibs.) -Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders) -Frequent driving (car, van, truck) -Problem Solving – Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers; can see hidden problems; is excellent at honest analysis; looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at first answers. -Decision Quality – Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; most of his/her solutions and suggestions turn out to be correct and accurate when judged over time; sought out by others for advice and solutions. -Extreme heat (above 100*) -Able to write detailed reports, using a computer. -Frequent Standing -Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Frequently required to sit, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move 100 pound test sets. -Medium Lifting (30 Ibs. – 45 Ibs.) -Valid Driver’s License.

-Typical schedule is to work 8-12 weeks and then 1 weeks back at “home base” depending on project schedule. This varies based on the phase of the project. -Options for downtime (i.e. in between projects), employee can take PTO, training, regional work, and “home office” work. -Expect to receive accelerated on-job-training (OJT) and experience due to the nature of this work.
