Overview

Perform power system studies and design solutions for electrical infrastructure.

Tasks

-Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals. -Maintaining up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations and protection and control schematics for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training. -Develop and/or update equipment control schematics, one-lines, three-lines, and wiring diagrams. -Self-manage assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates. -Perform data collection activities. -Successfully execute small to medium-sized projects with limited oversight. -Develop study reports and communicate results and recommendations to customers. -Interpret new construction drawing packages. -Meeting all project deadlines and supporting the processes and procedures to meet deadlines. -Develop relay protective setpoints and settings files. -Develop and/or implement arc flash mitigation designs. -Perform Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies for commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and generation facilities using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software. -Effectively communicate with other departments and customers to ensure activities are properly coordinated.

What You Bring

-Strong computer skills. -Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers. -Must have the ability to work independently, and accurately, and have high attention to detail. -Applies knowledge of low and medium-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, and disconnects to determine cost-effective mitigation solutions from the results and recommendations of power system studies. -BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (Mechanical Engineering degrees accepted for some roles) with a focus on power systems. -Educational experience directly related to working with [medium to high voltage] electricity (preferred). -Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring usage. -Ability to travel 50-60% of the time.
