The Role

Overview

Operate forklifts and cranes to move large structural steel loads in a manufacturing setting.

Tasks

-Report damages and/or items needing repair. -Load and unload parts product or material onto fixtures and on and off trucks. -Transports finished parts to the next required operation, or the correct storage location. -Moving or preparing parts for assembly operations. -Operation of cranes and other lift equipment within crane load limits. -Maintains compliance to company policies, work rules, safety & housekeeping standards. -Return required materials, parts, components, and packaging to designated storage areas at the completion of each production run. -Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to ensure crane is properly spotted for safe operation within load limits of crane. -Direct truck drivers backing vehicles into loading bays and cover, uncover, or secure loads for delivery. -Provide production with an adequate supply of required materials, parts, components and packaging. -Maneuvering large loads under hook with various chains and lifting beams to suit loads. -Operates forklifts and cranes in accordance with safety guidelines considering other employees, speed, visibility, and load size in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. -Maintaining workspace and proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment. -Ensures safety check sheet for equipment is filled out at beginning of shift. Addresses any safety issues with forklift or crane before operation. -Assist with quality control, making sure that all finished good materials are in good condition.

What You Bring

-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. -High School diploma or GED and 2+ years' experience operating forklifts and cranes in fast-paced manufacturing/industrial/construction environment. -Knowledge of protocol and mechanical operation of dock and truck equipment. -Ability to get on and off the forklift many times per shift. -Familiar with crane load charts, load capacities that ensures safe operation and rigging during operation. -Prior experience moving structural loads up to 55ft long and weights of 110,000lbs is desirable. -Must be able to drive and operate forklift and crane equipment and be properly licensed for each. -Must be flexible for change and be able to work well under deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
