Tasks

-Work with local analysts to investigate issues, identify root causes and track follow-up actions. -Develop reports that help management understand asset risks and support strategic planning and investment decisions. -Quickly assess the impact of network failures on customers and assets, enabling timely decisions and communications. -Participate in the standby rota and take on other duties as needed to support business needs. -Provide clear, informed guidance to Shift Managers and senior decision-makers (Bronze, Silver, Gold) to support effective network operations. -The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota -Manage pressure and CML alarms proactively—analysing root causes and adjusting thresholds in line with our Alarm Strategy. -Provide data and insights for regulatory reporting (e.g. DWI incidents, pollution events) and support post-incident reviews to ensure accurate reporting and continuous improvement. -Create and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements, ensuring safety, quality and public health are prioritised. -Assist Water Asset Controllers with technical analysis of treatment works, reservoirs and trunk mains—supporting decisions on flow and storage. -Collaborate with Water Distribution and Production teams to ensure planned work is understood and supported by ORC teams. -Be the go-to technical and analytical lead for Water within the Operational Response & Control Hubs—supporting ORC teams and on-site response teams with expert advice and direction, relating to supply interruption and water quality. -Coordinate and support front-line teams during planned work and incidents, ensuring activities follow agreed plans. -Support Shift Managers with shift updates and handover reports for wider business visibility. -Investigate reactive water network issues, helping teams develop and deliver response plans that protect water quality and minimise customer disruption—using tools like hydraulic modelling and corporate systems.

-Experience working with complex datasets, drawing meaningful insights and recommending clear actions. -A strong foundation in technical and analytical thinking, with the confidence to make informed decisions. -Confidence using IT systems and tools to support your work. -Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage your workload independently and under pressure. -You’ll be trained and authorised to adjust systems where appropriate. -The ability to assess and prioritise outcomes thoughtfully, ensuring accuracy and rigour in your work. -Water Services Science -Strong communication skills and the ability to guide others through monitoring and improvement processes. -Water Industry Experience / Civil or Water Engineering background -A keen eye for detail and a proactive mindset that challenges assumptions and seeks better solutions.
