The Role

Overview

Oversees purchasing, vendor evaluation, inventory and market forecasting for lumber supplies.

Tasks

-Provides valuation and inventory turn data to upper management. -Manages inventory levels. -Evaluates vendors for credit worthiness and cost. -Predicts commodity markets and recommends purchasing strategies. -Involved in the manufacturing and/or distribution negotiation process. -Works closely with sales to ensure products are available on time and accurately meet demand. -Builds purchasing agreements with timelines and expected usage. -Occasional travel may be required. -May be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds.

What You Bring

-Or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Work is in an office setting and generally sedentary with physical effort associated with using a computer, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. -Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. -Excellent working knowledge MS Word and Excel. -Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. -Four (4) years of purchasing experience; -Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors, and other employees of the organization. -Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. -Requires advanced math abilities. -Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required;
