Tasks

-Design, develop, and maintain Oracle database schemas and applications. -Manage and optimise containerised applications using OpenShift. -Stay updated with latest industry trends and technologies. -Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and mentor junior team members. -Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Oracle database development, including Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCC). -Collaborate with application developers to integrate database solutions seamlessly. -Analyse complex legacy code and propose streamlined solutions, including reusable components. -Optimise database performance and ensure data integrity across OLTP and Data Warehouse platforms. -Build and deploy applications using standard build tools (Maven/Gradle) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions). -Implement observability and supportability best practices in application design.

What You Bring

-Familiarity with OLTP and Data Warehouse design principles and tuning approaches. -Present work effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional & Technical Skills: -Familiarity with data warehousing concepts (SCDs, Fact tables, junk dimensions). -Proficiency in Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour Driven Development (BDD). -Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, ELK stack, Splunk, Grafana). Additional Information: -Orientation towards writing secure, vulnerability-free code. Preferred Qualifications: -Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. -DevOps mindset with focus on observability and supportability. -Experience with other database technologies (Postgres, BigQuery). -Experience with Liquibase/Flyway for database versioning. -Deep understanding of Oracle internals (data dictionary, ASH, AWR) and performance tuning beyond pre-canned reports. -Strong knowledge of advanced Oracle concepts (bind variable peeking, cardinality feedback, histograms, cursor sharing, hard parsing, database waits). -10+ years of experience in Oracle database development, with at least 2 years of production-level exposure to Oracle 19c. -Awareness of container-based deployment platforms (OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes). -Scripting skills in Bash/Python/Perl. -Ability to critique database designs and propose optimised solutions. -Minimum 15 years of full-time education required. -Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL programming, including complex analytics and bulk operations. -Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and advanced branching/merging strategies.
