The Role

Overview

Repair, rewind, and maintain AC/DC electric motors and transformers.

Tasks

-Inspect and test motors to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards. -Utilize various tools and equipment to carry out motor repairs and diagnostics. -Diagnose and repair both AC and DC electric motors, ensuring they meet industry standards and operational requirements. -Rewind and reassemble motors to original specifications, ensuring proper insulation, coil winding, and assembly. -Perform rewinding services for various transformer types, including single and three phase types. -Perform rewinding services for various motor types, including both low and high voltage motors. -Provide recommendations for motor improvements and preventive maintenance strategies to clients. -Ensure adherence to safety procedures and regulations while working with electrical components. -Work closely with other team members to complete repair jobs efficiently and in a timely manner. -Maintain accurate records of work completed, including repairs and rewinding procedures.

What You Bring

-Additional certifications or training in electrical or mechanical engineering. -Knowledge of motor control systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs). -Previous experience working in a motor repair shop or industrial environment. -Experience with motor testing equipment such as insulation resistance testers, multimeters, and megohmmeters. -Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. -Ability to work with various types of motors, including induction motors, synchronous motors, transformers and others. -Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work to high standards of quality and safety. -High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or trade school training in electrical motors or a related field is a plus. -Knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams & connections, and motor testing procedures. -Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve electrical and mechanical issues. -Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and motor specifications. -Proven experience as an Electric Motor Rewind Technician, with a strong background in both AC and DC motor repair and rewinding.
