Overview

Lead estimator for civil/transit projects, handling take-offs, bids, and team coordination.

Tasks

-Estimate all scopes related to their discipline area of expertise. -Assist in obtaining firm quotes for material suppliers, equipment and subcontractors. -Analysis and pricing of backfill methods and materials. -Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day. -Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day -Production of aggregate, asphalt, and concrete through various methods. -Coordinate junior estimators and interns with takeoff and vendor solicitation processes. -Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis -Participate in detailed reviews, providing thorough explanation of estimate. -Crane selection, erection of precast elements and cast in place techniques. -May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors -Prepare supplier bid packages to ensure that self-performed work has competitive material quotes. -May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis -Quantification of mechanical assemblies such as valves and fire hydrants. -Estimate unit costs by analyzing crew composition, production rates, and equipment selection. -Geotechnical report review - dewatering, blasting, and ripping requirements. -Will lift, push or pull objects on an occasional basis -Perform detailed quantity take-offs on bid items and materials in order to develop all-inclusive cost estimates. -Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc. -Identification of quarries and pits suitable for project use. -Utilization of relevant cost history database to verify production rates.

What You Bring

-Understanding of incentives, penalties, and PWLs. -Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures -Falsework and formwork systems. -Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs. -Trench protection and shoring. -Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.) -Preferred candidates will have obtained their LEED accreditation and DBIA certification, or express willingness to obtain. -Scraper, dozer, truck, loader, and excavator productions. -Four ‐ year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. -Aggregates, PCCP Paving, Asphalt Paving -Earthwork flow, mass haul diagrams, project phasing. -Post tensioning, precast yards, and foundations. -Advanced level HCSS knowledge of estimate entry and quote system tools. -Excavator methods and equipment selection. -Ten or more years of experience in an estimating role. -Ideal candidates will have project experience in one or more key market sectors identified by the business unit. -May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis -Successful history executing projects as the prime point of contact with minimal oversight for project teams.
