Overview

Locate and mark underground utilities, operate excavation equipment, and ensure safety.

Tasks

-Record the depth of the tool head as required (bore logs) -Place conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduits sections (install couplers) as directed, and place ground rods, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks -Ensure the drill head is in a good position at the exit pit to connect the product -Walk and confirm bore path with bore operator, spot utilities -Ensure proper clearances to install the product per standards -Identify and mark the location of underground utilities such as water, gas, electric, and telecommunications lines. This involves using equipment like GPR, and electrical devices to precisely locate these lines. -Operate excavation equipment (Mini excavator, trencher, bore machine hydro-vac, etc) -Underground Locator may be responsible for placing conduit and/or cables in trenches, splicing conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, and placing ground rods, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks -Oversee laborer's and/or crew members' work and monitor time usage -Hand dig with shovels, picks, and digging bars to expose located utilities, access u/g vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches

-OSHA 10 -Ability to reach with hands and arms -Exposed to extreme weather conditions -Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains -Ability to use hands or feet -Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl -Ability to stand, walk, sit -Ability to work as a team. -Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces -Must be available to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary. -Must be able to operate tamps, jackhammers, core drills, concrete saws, and other miscellaneous equipment safely -Ability to follow instructions. -Ability to lift up to 75 lbs as needed -Oral communication skills. -Ability to maintain all safety expectations -Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear -Excellent mechanical skills. -Knowledge and understanding of reading drawings and ability to follow specifications -Troubleshooting abilities -High school diploma or equivalent, and at least 1+ years experience
