  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis
  • Coordinate with location supervisor and review Vehicle Condition Reports (VCR's), to prioritize work accordingly
  • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies, procedures and requirements
  • Rebuild or fabricate parts as needed
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Reviews lubrication reports and service records and under close supervision performs oil lube and filter service on all assigned equipment as directed.
  • May assist in the maintenance and repair of fixed equipment
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Order parts from approved vendors and drive Company pick-up/repair truck to pick up parts
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Input daily repair reports into software based tracking program (Trimble)
  • Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment
  • Operate fixed and mobile equipment as necessary
  • Frequently works near moving, mechanical parts, and vehicular traffic.
  • Diagnose problems and perform mechanical repair and maintenance to various types of equipment including but not limited to: tires, ready mix concrete trucks, heavy construction equipment and passenger vehicles
  • Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Communicate with drivers and plant managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices in plant, tool and parts house and shop areas.
  • Create work orders on repairs and services providing legible and accurate information for work performed

  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to operate a ready-mix concrete truck.
  • Follows lube manual and guidelines and plant equipment service manuals.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and have a working knowledge of the English language.

  • Must be knowledgeable in principles of welding, sandblasting, and spray painting.
  • Incumbent should be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; grip, climb, reach, shovel, squat, crawl, or pull, push, as well as, bend and lift at least 45 pounds.
  • Diesel Mechanic: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Must be able to work required overtime and flexible work schedule.
  • Incumbent must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions of heat and cold.
