Tasks
-Act as the representative of the Client in communications with the Contractor, the public or other interested parties. Refer issues to the Project Manager if they involve controversial matters or are outside of the authority of the Inspector. -Inspect and monitor construction work to assure that the Materials furnished and the Work performed are in close conformance to the Plans and Specifications. Reject work or material that does not meet contract requirements. -Prepare and submit the documentation and reports according to the contract requirements, in accordance with regulatory authorities, and to protect the interests of the Client. This includes, but is not limited to, daily progress reports, project diary, pay notes, pay estimates, quality and quantity documentation, environmental documentation, photographs, and "as-built" documentation. -Prepare and check design files and stakeout information for completeness and accuracy in preparation to hand over to construction surveyors during construction. -Utilize state of the art computer drafting tools and have a high level of competency to use design software such as MicroStation, InRoads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. -Obtain work assignments of specific design elements from Project Manager with an allocated budget -Calculate earthwork quantities based on digital terrain models (DTM) and design models using design software and evaluate survey confidence points based on DTM and design model data. -Review all work for completeness and accuracy. -Perform design-related tasks under the supervision of a registered Professional Engineer using standard guidelines and criteria such as AASHTO and others. -Participate in project development activities prior to contracts being awarded. Review pre-award contract documentation for completeness and accuracy; provide review comments to the appropriate person for action and follow up to make sure the comments are addressed. -Measure and record the Contractor's work and prepare Source Documents, as work is performed, to justify payment. -Translate mark-ups into drawings, check and plot drawings, correctly label final working drawings, calculate and update project quantities, and update contract drawings and specifications. -Set up and maintain standard drawing files and adhere to company drafting standards as applicable to each project. -Set up directories and work within file-sharing software such as ProjectWise or other -Assure that the Contractor does not violate contract restrictions, including restrictions for protection of the environment and restrictions set by statutes, laws, or ordinances. -Read and understand contract documents prior to the start of the work. During the work, interpret the contract documents, anticipate potential problems, propose potential solutions, and work with others in their resolution.

What You Bring
-Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field -Must have a valid driver’s license and clear motor vehicle report -Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with heavy emphasis on Excel and Word -Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions -Proficiency with Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Inroads -Experience in drafting software applications such as MicroStation, AutoCAD or Civil 3D -2+ years of construction inspection -Licensed Engineering Intern (EI) -ODOT or ODOT local agency project experience -Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering
