The Role

Overview

Design and lead mechanical systems (HVAC, pumps, piping) for infrastructure projects.

Tasks

-Helping to prepare and author studies and design reports, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents. -Undertaking Engineer of Record field review of projects in construction. -Taking ownership of overall project quality. -Leading the design of mechanical systems, including: hydraulic analysis of piping and pumping systems, selection of equipment (valves, piping, pumps, tanks, screens, etc.), and design calculations. -Coordinating the work of multidisciplined teams through the design development phase. -Managing our cross-discipline quality management process. -Leading the preparation of schematic drawings, layouts, and P&IDs with senior support and working with our CAD technicians.

What You Bring

-Familiarity with AutoCAD and 3D design tools such as SketchUp, Revit and Plant 3D. -Ability to look beyond your mechanical engineering specialty to find synergies with other disciplines to understand cross-disciplinary needs for a successful project completion. -5+ years of progressive experience. -Proficient with MS Office, as well as pdf editing software. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Valid driver's license. -Familiarity with hydraulic design tools would also be an asset. -Enthusiasm for building internal relationships throughout Associated Engineering’s network of engineering professionals. -Committed team player and highly self-motivated. -Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or integrated engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. -Passion for HVAC, hydraulics, pumping and piping systems, and understand the importance of sustainability in design and energy efficiency resulting from system optimization. -Demonstrated ability to work independently and to undertake self-directed learning. -Registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineer’s Yukon, or eligible for registration.
