Tasks
Performs a variety of manual construction tasks involving roads, highways and heavy construction projects under the direction of a crew foreman. Regularly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. Handles various toxic products such as epoxies, grouts, sealers, paints and cleaners, with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. -May be called upon to operate a variety of power and hand tools: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, mechanical hoists, surveying, measuring and other equipment -Measuring and finishing grade stakes, pipe laying, drives stakes, and stretches tight line. -Tends pumps, compressors, or generators -Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials -Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; reach and grasp. -Sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, and mounting pipe hangers. -Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects -Regularly twist, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch to perform duties -Measure, mark, or record openings or distances as part of site preparation -Supervise and train crew members -Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment. -Mixes concrete apply caulking, as needed. -Coordinate with others including subcontractors, trucking and plant managers. -Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth -Regularly push/pull objects -Assist craft workers, such as carpenters, ironworkers, plasterers and masons -Use picks, shovels, and rakes to level earth or asphalt to rough and fine grade specifications/elevations -Climb intermittently -Promote and adhere to the company’s safety program. -Maintain clean work area by disposing of trash and debris properly. -Load, unload, or distribute materials, machinery, or tools to and from designated locations -Hands on – efficiently operate heavy equipment that applies to grading.

What You Bring
-Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary -Two (2) years’ experience working as a Grade Laborer, or equivalent experience. -Knowledge of utilizing power tools: Bolts, nails, aligns, and block up under forms. -Able to hear and respond to oral instructions in a noisy environment. -Must have reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned worksites -Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination. -Active Driver’s license -Able to multi-task and working under short time constraints -General knowledge of road construction processes. -Able to communicate effectively with jobsite supervisor and co-workers -Repetitively lift and carry at least 75 pounds on a regular basis, and sometimes heavier weight. -Constant physical effort, including extended standing for at least 8 hour shift -High School diploma or general education degree (GED) -Good vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus -Two (2) years’ experience grading experience -Agility, balance, and manual dexterity, as well as arm-hand steadiness -Regularly reach above shoulder level -Ability to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skills -Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment such as hand tools, power tools and motorized equipment. -Intermittent sitting; continuous walking on construction site. -Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
