The Role

Overview

Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot water/wastewater instrumentation and control systems.

Tasks

-To implement control system modifications from operational requests to improve process control or compliance. -identifying any faults and implementing remedial action. -Manages health and safety risk (self, others, public) -To complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner to maintain internal change control standards, -To respond to instrumentation faults within SW parameters, as guided by Dispatch -May make minor changes to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of production. -Can identify changes and make recommendations which are approved by others. Often such changes are -To undertake investigative work on instruments and process problems on water and wastewater plants as required, -To exchange information with other team members, plant operators and departments within SW as required -Required to raise issues/consequences impacting on regulatory and legislative risk -To routinely maintain and/or calibrate instrumentation to SW standards to ensure reliability and accuracy -To coach, train and develop staff under their supervision. -To work out-of-hours, and be called out as required -To be solely responsible for water supply final product quality instrumentation, shutdown and alarm systems.

What You Bring

-Must understand the parameters within which instruments and control systems operate and the consequences of variance outside of those parameters. -Ability to think on feet and work calmly under pressure -Relevant experience in a process and industrial environment. Instrumentation apprenticeship within water utility, petrochemical, electricity or similar industry -Good verbal communication -At least and ONC or OND in electrical engineering or equivalent with experience (as specified above) Current Electrical Installation Regulations qualification -Experience implementing process improvements via control system modifications and experience in diagnosing and fixing complex process and control system faults. -Good attention to detail -External (c. 10%) -Self motivated -Transmission media and telemetry knowledge and experience including ration, PSTN, multipoint and point to point leased line and GSM. -Sociable and open -PLC and Scada systems knowledge and experience -ISO9001 accreditation and other systems -Require significant depth of knowledge of fault finding, calibration, testing, investigation and programming in technical aspects such as telemetry, various flow meters, detectors, control systems, and other measurement meters. -40% require more diagnostic work which require more time and effort and often liaising with others to identify root problems or their solution.
