The Role

Overview

Assist with bridge design, analysis, inspections and documentation, learning on-site and office work.

Tasks

-Assist in preparing project documentation, including reports, proposals, and presentations. -Participate in the inspection and rating of existing structures, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. -Engage in both office-based tasks and on-site activities, gaining a comprehensive understanding of structural engineering processes. -Assist in the design and analysis of bridges and other structures, applying engineering principles and techniques. -Learn and apply relevant industry standards and best practices in structural design and inspection. -Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and present design information, including organizing and interpreting data. -Support the preparation of design calculations, construction drawings, and technical reports.

What You Bring

-Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent. -Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry. -Exposure to structural analysis software such as SAP2000, MIDAS, or CSI Bridge. -Familiarity with bridge inspection procedures (e.g., NBIS - National Bridge Inspection Standards). -Understanding of load rating calculations for bridges. -Basic knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods used in bridge inspections. -Exposure to structural materials (steel, concrete, timber, and masonry) and deterioration mechanisms. -Understanding of AASHTO and DOT standards related to bridge design and inspection. -Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit for drafting and detailing.
