Tasks

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive estimates for civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You’ll play a key role in tender preparation, cost planning, and value engineering, ensuring bids are technically and commercially robust, and support the company’s growth and profitability. -Work closely with engineers, planners, and commercial teams to develop accurate cost build-ups. -Participate in tender adjudications, providing clear justification for estimates and assumptions. -Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope, risks, and opportunities. -Develop and maintain cost databases, benchmarking information, and historical data for continuous improvement. -Undertake quantification and take-offs from design drawings and models. -Prepare and submit tender submissions, pricing schedules, and supporting documentation. -Support post-tender negotiations and handovers to project delivery teams. -Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering works, including earthworks, drainage, highways, structures, and utilities. -Contribute to value engineering reviews and innovative cost-saving proposals. -Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

What You Bring

We Build Recruitment are seeking a skilled Estimator (Civil Engineering) on behalf of our client, a leading nationwide Civil Engineering and Groundworks Contractor. -Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet strict tender deadlines. -Familiarity with standard forms of contract (e.g. NEC, JCT, ICE). -Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry rates. -Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. -Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. -Proven experience as an Estimator within a civil engineering or infrastructure environment. -Proficiency in estimating software and MS Excel.
