The Role

Overview

Design and develop gas turbine components, ensuring performance, life, and efficiency.

Tasks

-Perform a leadership role in investigations of in-service and/or development hardware issues including Engine Investigations, failure analysis, root cause / corrective action (RCCA), Technical Variance consultation, reporting, and documentation. Share findings with the global turbomachinery team in accordance with export control regulations. -Support manufacturing, assembly, service, and aftermarket issues promptly as they arise to keep production on target and the fleet in operation. -Review and approve component requirements for their responsible sub-system’s hardware. Develop, approve, and execute validation plans to demonstrate compliance to the requirements. -Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and other stakeholders. -Create dimensional tolerance stacks, establish Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements, and support manufacturing to produce conforming hardware. -Support the supply chain in procuring hardware including review of supplier documentation, assessment of non-conforming hardware, and review of supplier change proposals. -Create component design definition in accordance with module, system, and customer interface requirements.

What You Bring

-Experience with coatings and their application within turbine and hot section systems. -Experience working with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and/or ANSYS Workbench. -Experience with computer programming and design optimization. -JD/PHD in Engineering. -Broader experience with rotating and static component design in highly stressed or critical assemblies. -A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience in design engineering, Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering OR; -Experience with turbine component design methods and practices to include component integrity, Structural Analysis, Thermals and Lifing spreadsheets. -Experience with the definition release process and GD&T. -Experience working with manufacturing and/or quality, especially with regards to the assessment of non-conforming hardware. -A Master’s degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering OR; -To be considered for this opportunity, you must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
