The Role

Overview

Construction and maintenance of electric distribution lines, both overhead and underground.

Tasks

-Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances -Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution system. -Work aloft with and lift tools and material up to 60 lbs -Climb poles and towers -Work in adverse environments such as swamps, wetlands, coastal sounds, lakes, rivers and mountains

What You Bring

-Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above. -Prefer a graduate of a recognized Lineman Training Program -Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. -The ability to work off a ladder is required -Due to weight limits on equipment, a weight restriction of 290 pounds applies -The ability to lift up to 75 lbs. is required -Must presently be a Qualified Distribution Lineman -Must pass a health and physical assessment. -Be able to obtain a Class A CDL by the end of the 5th month of work -Must be available for overtime including extended workdays and holidays -Minimum of 3 years work experience in the electric distribution field working as a Lineman -Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates -The successful candidates will be required to complete a Line Worker Skills Assessment -Ability to climb poles and towers -This job requires "recommended" test results from Modern Hire Electric Line Worker Virtual Job Tryout administered online. The assessment is untimed but usually takes about 45 minutes to complete.
