The Role

Overview

Part‑time structural engineer handling design, analysis, and project management for water infrastructure.

Tasks

-Conduct site visits to assess existing structures and monitor construction progress -Collecting and analyzing field data. -Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the team. -Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems. -Utilize advanced structural analysis software and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools. -Develop and review structural drawings, specifications, and reports. -Performing work by agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision. -Participate in client meetings and presentations to communicate design concepts and solutions. -Lead and manage structural engineering projects from conception to completion. -Develop project/task proposals and assist with project invoicing. -Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and innovative structural engineering practices. -Travel to other states for fieldwork on 1 to 3-day trips, accounting for up to 20% of the overall time. -Ensure compliance with local and national building codes and standards. -Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project success. -Perform advanced structural analysis and design calculations for complex structures.

What You Bring

-Project Management experience -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills -Proficiency in advanced structural analysis software such as STAAD and RAM Elements. -Effective communication and interpersonal skills -Prior experience in water industry structural design is highly advantageous. -Professional Engineer (PE) license required. -Strong skills in finite element analysis and Building Information Modeling (BIM) -Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). -Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit -Experience with various building materials including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry In-depth understanding of building codes, standards, and seismic design principles -Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently -Experience in project leadership and team management
