Overview
Lead health & safety team, manage H&S systems & PSDP duties for engineering projects.

Tasks
-Provision of relevant technical support and leadership to clients and designers. -Reviewing the effectiveness of the Safety Statement annually and ensure that it is modified as necessary. -Carrying out periodic inspections of company locations -Provision of guidance on legislative compliance and industry best practice. -Management of occupational health and safety requirements of a large engineering consultancy firm. -Project management of PSDP projects including Client management, coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and scope. -Continuously developing your skills and staying up to date with the latest technologies, best practices, and innovations within the health and safety sector in infrastructure design and delivery. -Ensuring all documentation relating to Health and Safety in the workplace is kept up to date and that notification and reporting procedures are maintained. -Evaluation of what Health and Safety training is required and ensuring that appropriate courses are available to meet this training requirement. -Co-ordination the activities of the company in relation to its duties according to legislation requirements -Management of a team of health and safety professionals. -Attending or design review meetings taking into account client specifications, contractual and statutory obligations in relation to the Construction Regulations and performance of the PSDP role -Revising and updating Health and Safety procedures as required to achieve the objectives of the company Health and Safety Statement. -Maintaining health and safety records for company activities. -Assisting the Senior Health and Safety Manager in leading the Health and Safety team to support the delivery of projects and programmes of work. -Fulfilling the duties of the PSDP and acting as Health & Safety Coordinator for the Design Process as outlined in the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 -Facilitating the arrangement of the following appointments: Fire Marshals and Fire Wardens, First Aiders, Safety Reps, DSE Assessors and ensuring that the appointees receive adequate training. -Working as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality Health and Safety services for our clients. You will be expected to work on delivery of multiple projects concurrently. -Investigation of accidents/near misses when required. -Mentoring and developing staff. -Maintaining adequate sources of information on health and safety topics for employee/employer consultation. -Organisation of Safety Committees as part of the company consultation process.

What You Bring
-Have proven track record of design delivery -Experience in the preparation and review of Risk Assessments, Design Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Safety & Health plans. -Be project focussed, proactive and independent, and able to provide a supporting project management role. -Have a proven ability to deliver project and tasks to a high quality, on time and within budget. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, suppliers and colleagues. -Have the ability to plan, manage and prioritise own workload. -Ability to act as a competent PSDP within the meaning of the Safety, Health & Welfare Act 2005 and Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 -Diligent, professional and organised approach to work delivery. -10 years experience in a health and safety role with an engineering design consultancy greater than 50 staff. -Be able to produce high quality reports, presentations and deliverables to clearly communicate complex issues. -Be a member of IOSH and pursuing Chartered in Health and Safety or engineering. -Have the ability to lead and motivate. -Expert knowledge of construction Health & Safety Regulations and associated practices & procedures. -Chartered member of IOSH. -Have a Level 8 degree in Health and Safety or related discipline. A post graduate Level 9 Masters would be advantageous. -Experience of working with OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 or similar safety system -Experience as a trainer of staff and client organisations. -Competence in collaborating on multi-disciplinary projects with engineering, planning and environmental professionals. -Excellent IT skills, familiar with relevant computer applications; MS Office -Have at least 15 years of experience in building or civil engineering infrastructure works including safety management as well as the management of the role of Project Supervisor Design Process and/or Project Supervisor Construction Stage (or similar) in a wide range of sectors. -Have analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose problems and identify and recommend solutions. -Specialist technical knowledge of occupational and construction Health and Safety.
