The Role
Overview
Project Engineer delivering substation projects for power transmission & distribution.

Tasks
-Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations -Setting people to work -Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.) -Supporting project delivery across all stages: planning, construction, commissioning, and close-out. -Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls techniques -Conduct and support Accident/Incident Investigations -Managing and motivating delivery teams to achieve operational excellence. -Helps to ensure reports provide relevant information to enable informed, cost- effective decisions in line with overall strategy -Work alongside Project Management and deputise where required -Communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders -Helps to ensure scope and package assignment supports the team in coordinated working -Proactively develop others around you including junior members of the team -Responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain -Understand, control and issue safety documentation -Ensuring compliance with client objectives, legal and regulatory frameworks, and company standards. -Lead and attend project reviews / project meetings -Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders -Leading the definition and implementation of engineered delivery solutions. -Help to develop, implement and periodically update resource loaded schedules -Ensure sufficiency and competency of workforce -Championing safety, quality, time, and cost control in every phase. -Register and recommend/implement changes -Completion of audits -Carry out Safety & Environmental Tours/promote observation and safety initiatives -Identifying, raising and reporting risks and hazards -Motivate and empower the team using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management. -Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement solutions -Assist the Project Manager to lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the Risk -Monitor progress and implement Short Interval Control processes/hold weekly meeting -Write and review RAMS and accepting subcontractor RAMS -Specify, understand, develop and implement technical information and drawings into delivery -Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations -Identify and drive personal development -Briefing project teams and managing effective execution of plans. -Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation

What You Bring
-Experience in implementing safe systems of work -An organised, innovative and creative Project Engineer with knowledge and -Holds or desire to work towards either the APM PFQ/PMQ -Discuss ideas and plans competently and with confidence -Proficient on O365 -HNC in Electrical Engineering -Experience in managing risks and change processes through solutions-based approach to problem solving -Holds or working towards a formal qualification in construction/engineering or equivalent industry experience -Proven experience in substation engineering within power transmission and distribution. -Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and influence -AutoCAD qualification -Have an awareness of the Digital Briefcase -Strong project management acumen with an engineering mindset. -Experience of working with DNOs in the EHV industry preferably Northern Powergrid. -Demonstration of resilience and determination to succeed -Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide teams and liaise with stakeholders. -Holds CSCS and SMSTS or equivalent -Understanding and specify plant and equipment requirements
