Tasks

-Plans and conducts complex work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria -Perform research to find innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions to operational problems within assigned area. -Interface with other departments within Dominion Energy, such as Project Management, Construction, Supply Chain, Permitting & Route Selection, Real Estate, Right-of-Way Administration, and Transmission Operations and Maintenance. -Perform the 3D modeling & design of high voltage overhead transmission lines utilizing PLS CADD software. This may also include the modeling of steel pole or tower structures in PLS Pole/Tower software. -Support Fault Analysis Group in investigating sources of momentary interruptions on transmission lines (FALLS lightning program, contamination problems, etc.). -Participate in trade and industry organizations and benchmarking activities. -Support Transmission Linemen in the field with operational challenges, emergency designs, and emergency response. Provides expert technical advice to other engineers and management in assigned area. -Support emergency restoration efforts for catastrophic failures with initial situational assessments, coordination of engineering efforts, development and execution of plan. This position will have a role in the storm center.

What You Bring

-Proven decision-making skills. -8+ years of relevant engineering experience (An Engineering PhD can be substituted for up to 5 years’ experience based on research engineering work on related projects approved by executive leadership.) -Engineer - 2+ years of related experience -Staff Engineer - 8+ years of related experience -Recognized expert by other engineers and management in assigned area. -Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or -Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing). -In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g., Matlab, Excel, etc.). Proficiency in PLS CADD is a plus. -Sr. Engineer - 5+ years of related experience -Extensive skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines. -Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply codes, regulations, and practices. -Equally effective working independently or in team environment -Strong technical and organizational leadership skills. -Strong planning and project management skills. -Extensive knowledge of engineering theories, principles, and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related field. -Demonstrated ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks. -Transmission line design and construction experience is highly preferred. -Possesses and applies advanced engineering knowledge and skills to provide technical expertise, guidance to all levels of engineers and/or team leadership. -Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or -Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or -Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license. -Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems. -Skilled in the use of advanced engineering techniques.
