The Role

Overview

Plan and manage schedules for mining projects from bid to commissioning.

Tasks

-Identify and incorporate resource requirements into the project program -Measure, monitor, and manage updates of project progress; advise corrective action as required -Ensure that internal processes are followed including document management control systems -Assist in set-up of site tracking (E7/construction tracking sheets) including the distribution of budget, hours and development of construction progress tracking metrics/rules of credit -Ensure that Sedgman standard structure, codes, activity Id’s, calendars, naming conventions, layouts, linking philosophy, and resources are used -Carry out analyses of Critical Path activities, and conduct/participate in Schedule Risk Analysis as required, identifying options for corrective action -Provide timely, accurate and appropriate project reporting including forecasting and S-Curves -Participate in internal, subcontractor, and Client meetings as required -Coordinate and liaise across disciplines, including design activities and progress with the Lead Engineers and Design Manager, procurement activities progress for equipment and contracts with procurement team, construction activities progress for site with construction team, and commissioning activities progress for systems completion and handover with commissioning team -Review proposal documentation to determine scope of work, battery limits, construction methodologies -Participate in team program review sessions; Conduct peer review programs -Develop, maintain, and manage project program and supporting documentation for each aspect of the project including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning; -Assess and report on internally and externally driven changes to project scope and potential impact on the project including budget, time, resources etc.

What You Bring

-Ability to effectively manage own time, priorities, and activities. -PMI-SP Certification is highly desirable and considered an asset. -High proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, knowledge of ERP systems such as JD Edwards is an asset -Strong analytical and reporting capabilities, including Earned Value Analysis -RRSP matching -Tertiary qualification or equivalent in a related discipline -At least 5 years of experience in scheduling complex projects -Able to provide site support as required by the project. -Minimum of 3 years of practical site-based experience -Must have 5 – 7 years of experience as a project Planner within in the Mining, Construction, and/or Oil & Gas industry -High attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills -Project planning knowledge essential.
