Tasks

Develop and implement comprehensive sector and market plans to support strategic growth. Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders. Lead and contribute to bid strategies, ensuring competitive positioning and client alignment. Represent Assystem at industry events and contribute to thought leadership through publications and presentations. Stay informed of market trends, emerging technologies, and policy developments to inform business strategy. Identify new business opportunities and lead proactive pursuit activities across energy sectors. Collaborate with internal teams to align business development initiatives with delivery capability. What You Bring

We’re looking for a dynamic Business Development Director to lead and grow strategic client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and drive Assystem’s market position within the UK and global energy sectors. This senior role is critical to shaping our business strategy, expanding our client network, and ensuring our continued success in a rapidly evolving low-carbon landscape. The role can be based from any of our UK offices, but will require a degree of travel across the UK and occasionally internationally. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks. Strong understanding of market dynamics and strategic planning. Skilled in building partnerships and influencing at senior stakeholder level. Experience leading bids, proposals, and capture plans for complex technical projects. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Proven track record in business development or client relationship management, ideally within the energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
