Tasks
-Collaborative with all departments to ensure they have implemented effective compliance internal controls into their procedures and work instructions and providing trade compliance training. -Support special projects that relate to international trade -Have the independent authority to enquire into any aspect of a proposed export or import, verify its legality and the accuracy of the information to be submitted, and stop any transactions when necessary -Conduct audits to assess export/import compliance and assist in determining and implementing corrective actions where necessary -Serve as main point of contact for import/export activity in coordination with our customs broker -Analyze and interpret export and import regulations and maintain current knowledge of changes. -Review accuracy of current Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and a mange HTS master data in ERP system -Prepare and verify trade documentation required for import/export clearance -Perform Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Classification determinations under US and non-US regulations -Lead Supplier Solicitation program for FTA participation and prepare applicable Certificate of Origin documentation -Perform border crossing transaction for equipment moving between US, Canada and Mexico -Establish and maintain training and audit / assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls -Assess emerging compliance issues with management or employees to identify the potential impact of future laws and regulations on the organization -Perform and analyze transactions for which due diligence indicates areas of risk for trade compliance -Participant in local port trade organizations, CBP seminars and other trade events

What You Bring
-Familiarity with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) including anti-boycott regulations, sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Customs Regulations (CR), and the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR). -Experience in working with railroad transit/logistics desired -2+ year of experience with export and/or import regulatory compliance. -5% or more travel including international -8+ years combination of education and experience in logistics, distribution and trade compliance. -May lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally -Office deskwork, requiring sitting, walking, using phone and computer -Capable of working independently on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. -Experience in performing accurate Tariff Classification -4+ year of International Logistics and Distribution experience dealing with customs, freight forwarders and import/export transactions -Strong knowledge of process improvement tools and techniques (lean, 6 Sigma, etc) -Expertise in all Microsoft applications, general ERP systems (IFS knowledge a plus) -Extensive knowledge of international shipping documents such as commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill, and export license; including consignee information, INCOTERMS, harmonized tariff code and nomenclature, country of origin, customs value, export classification, and license data -Proven ability to make high impact business decisions and prepare and review complex business documents
