Larsen & Toubro

The Role

Overview

Lead R&D for electrochemical systems, focusing on green hydrogen electrolyser development.

Key Responsibilities

  • materials development
  • modeling integration
  • experimental design
  • cell testing
  • ip generation
  • reporting

Tasks

-Drive technology development for electrodes, membranes, coatings, and catalysts to improve efficiency, durability, and cost. -Identify, evaluate, and implement novel electrochemical materials (e.g., non-precious catalysts, polymer membranes, advanced separators). -Develop and manage internal and collaborative research programs with academic and industrial partners. -Collaborate with modeling teams to guide material and component optimization using DFT, CFD, and FEA insights. -Drive intellectual property creation—file patents, write disclosures, and contribute to publications. -Design, plan, and execute experiments related to electrochemical performance, degradation studies, and material qualification. -Manage a team of scientists and engineers to meet project milestones and technology readiness levels (TRL). -Lead core R&D programs on electrochemical devices (electrolysers, fuel cells, batteries) with focus on component and system-level innovation. -Oversee single-cell, short-stack, and full-stack testing with deep understanding of SEC, overpotentials, and gas crossover. -Prepare technical reports, performance summaries, and presentation material for internal stakeholders and leadership reviews.
